News - We collected 8 segues from today's show: One Tyrus and Joni are sure to maks a last minute reminder toour viewers that the NAZBookfest is going on this weekend!!!. Two Tyrus and Joni determine that they can't remember just what the 7 deadly sins are, that April is not always the cruelest month ... then Tyrus makes sure to thank the Flagstaff Convention and Visirors Bureau for pitching in with us for so long and doing such a great job of informing our audience on all the tier one attractions our City has nearby. At the same time he introduces our new recession proof segment. "Parks & Rec" will be our weekly City offering, a complement to the fine reporting of City Hall's Kimberly Ott ~ with affordable local activities for us to escape to in these frugal times.  Three Tyrus gets confused over Ted Danson (local boy who did good in Hollywood)... as a sitcom dentist. Joni comes to the rescue. Four Tyrus and Joni talk about the new shift in journalism to the Internet. It seems Tyrus stumbled across an article in the online Christian Science Monitor that referred to a New York Times article citing an online blogger as a news breaking source in a significant Washington story. The blog is not terribly well known here in Flagstaff: emptywheel.firedoglake.com This helps to accent the precarious position traditional newspapers are in ~ helps highlight the reason for our support of local Newspapers. Five Joni tells us that Tony Norris was the keynote speaker at the NAU young authors conference this last Friday. Six Joni and Tyrus talk about herbs and Tyrus tells about making tea from sassafras root bark. Seven Joni tells us that as soon as this semester at NAU is over she is going to take a day off..and S L E E P all day!!! Eight Adieu ~ from the finally spring... mountain village ~ hamlet place that we love.

Brian Grubbe - of the Recreation Dept. plays host to our new segment here this week on FLAGNEWS. In this new City segment we will try to bring you all the news on affordable community events in and around Flagstaff managed by the City Parks Dept and Recreation Dept. We have two different departments in our town because there is simply so much going on....but we'll still call it Parks & Rec.

Kimberly Ott - This week Kimberly helps us remember two important moments for the community on 4.30.09 the Flagstaff Police Department is sponsoring a community support meeting concerning the rabies issues effecting us here on the mountain. 6PM Coconino County Health Department; Ponderosa Room; 2625 N. King St. She also reminds it's that time of year again to recycle our old phone books ~ Norton Envoronmental Material Recovery Facility, 1800 E Butler Ave. Visit the City Website to keep up on other such info in our community.

AZDailySun - Editor Randy Wilson hosts our AZ Daily Sun segment this week: Reporter Betsy Bruner gives us a reminder about this weekend's NAZBookfest. Reporter Hillary Davis tells us an Odyssey of the Mind team and their pink flamingo. Joe Ferguson tells us all about the new Marriott Courtyard hotel going up on South Beulah.

Jamescita Peshalakai - Our Native American News from Northern Arizona correspondent takes us on a personal journey this week. She is introduced to some very important plant medicine, the spider plant, by her grandmother. This is both informative and inspiring. This was no botany lesson but more a traditional passing down of discreet Tangle clan knowledge which connects the sky with the earth and her insect and plant people.

Tony Norris - Tony offers a condolence remembrance this week for Dr. John Caskey. Tony was visiting the good Doc the day before he was taken and had played this song for him ... one of the Doc's favorites. For more of Tony, his performance schedule, his world view and thoughts on springtime visit his website.

Mitzy Bellini - Just got back from becoming a bowling champ. Yeah..., we're still trying to figure out how she surfed that volcano last week..but... no worries. She came straight from Starlite Lanes to film her segment with us this week ~ we're just glad she made it. You can always e-mail her with activities you would like mentioned at mitzybellini@gmail.com

Tyrus - Gives the weather ~ cooler temps for the week agead. Not cold actually but more of the late spring cool we will wish for in July.
